Glazed terracotta is a vibrant variant of terracotta that comes in all the traditional 16 dye colors. It is made by smelting regular colored terracotta blocks. Glazed terracotta was added to Minecraft in v1.12.

Glazed terracotta blocks can be obtained through natural generation, smelting and trading. An expert-level stone mason villager will sell 1 glazed terracotta for the pierce of one emerald.

Some variants of glazed terracotta can be naturally generated, they are:

  • Yellow glazed terracotta in mason houses in savanna villages.
  • Purple glazed terracotta in some cold underwater ruins.
  • Orange glazed in armorer houses in savanna villages.
  • White glazed terracotta in some desert village buildings.
  • Lime glazed terracotta in desert village temples.
  • Light blue glazed terracotta in toolsmith houses in desert villages.

    • You can make your own glazed terracotta blocks by smelting any stained terracotta blocks but unstained terracotta cannot be smelted.

    Because of their strikingly colorful appearance, glazed terracotta blocks are commonly used for decoration. Players can place the block in four directional options when using them for decoration. Namely north, east, west, and south, these blocks have a 2×2 pattern on them which is mirrored in the opposite direction. They can be used as a building material, but it is advised not to use them as their blast resistance is even lower than regular terracotta.
